Beat Diesel


The Indian unit of General Motors Co. Monday introduced a diesel engine model of its Chevrolet Beat hatchback, adding to a gasoline model it currently sells.
The base model of the 1.0-liter car will cost 429,000 rupees ($9,684) at showrooms in New Delhi, while the top-end model will cost 545,000 rupees, Sumit Sawhney, vice president for sales and marketing at GM India Pvt. Ltd., told a news conference.
GM India also produces several other vehicles under the Chevrolet brand, including the Spark and Aveo U-VA hatchbacks, as well as the Optra and Aveo sedans, and the Tavera multi-utility vehicle.
