Today Show

Journey became the latest band to perform as part of the Today Show's free series of concerts on Friday (29th July 2011), playing hits including 'Don't Stop Believin' at the Rockefeller Centre in New York City. The group currently perform as a revamped version of the original 70's line-up, with Arnel Pineda taking on vocal duties.
Introduced by Anne Curry, the rockers took to the stage in Manhattan to perform for a select group of fans, some of whom held aloft 'I Love Journey' banners. The band still features original bassist Ross Valory and guitarist Neal Schon but Filipino singer Pineda joined in 2007 after uploading 'Journey' covers to YouTube. Billboard writer Phil Gallo explained the decision, saying, "I think they found a singer who is an exciting person to watch onstage, which they haven't had in a very, very, very long time.I think they went out and recorded a collection of new songs that connected with the Steve Perry era better than anything they've done in a long time". Perry left the band in the late 1990's after relations with Valory and Schon became strained.
The group are set to head out on a U.S. tour with Foreigner and Night Ranger kicking off on Saturday (30th July 2011) at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois.
