Legendry actor Shammi Kapoor breathed his last on Sunday morning at 5.15 am. His last rituals were performed on Monday in Mumbai. Several Bollywood celebrities headed to the Kapoor residence to pay last respect to the veteran actor.
On hearing the sad news of his departure, Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan rushed to Shammi Kapoor's Malabar Hill home on Sunday evening to pay his last homage to the 79 yr old actor who shared screen space with him in ‘Chamatkar’. Shammi Kapoor’s grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor who acted with Shammi Kapoor in ‘Rockstar’ also paid his last homage.
Industrialist Anil Ambani, actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, Rani Mukherjee, Kajol and her sister Tanisha, actor Amitabh Bachchan and many prominent personalities from different fields arrived to pay their last respect to the actor who revolutionized the concept of acting.
IIFA wards 2011 has been announced in Toronto amidst much fanfare and blockbuster ‘Dabangg’ won maximum number of awards. Shahrukh Khan won best actor award for his performance in ‘My Name Is Khan’ while Karan Johar won the best director award for the same film. Sonakshi Sinha received the best newcomer award for ‘Dabangg’ while Sonu Sood, the best villain.
Other winners are Mamta Sharma (best singer), Sajid-Wajid/Lalit Pandit (best music composers) and Arbaaz Khan (best film). Riteish Deshmukh won the best actor in a comic role for Housefull. Asha Bhosle and Sharmila Tagore were honored with lifetime achievement awards.
In other categories, Anushka Sharma won the best actress honor for ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. Priyanka Chopra was declared as winner of the Green Initiative award.
The evening was made glitzy with splendid performance by Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and many more.
The Bachchan household is all geared up to welcome a new addition to their family. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant and the Bachchan family is basking in joy. This good news was declared by soon to become grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan. He tweets, “I am going to be a grandfather soon. Aishwarya is expecting. Amitabh Bachchan and veteran actor Dev Anand prayed for the speedy recovery of Rajinikanth who has been admitted to the ICU of a Chennai hospital. Rajini is undergoing dialysis and is said to be recovering.
"I pray for my dear Rajani's sound health and speedy recovery (sic)," Dev Anand, 87, posted on his Twitter page.
Amitabh who is a very good friend of Rajini is in touch with Rajini’s family and wished him speedy recovery.
"All lovers of Rajnikant it has been disturbing to learn of his hospitalisation... I have spoken to him and been in touch with wife. Rajnikant is improving gradually she informs me, today by sms... we hope and pray that he recovers as soon as possible... our prayers," posted the Big B.
He was moved to the ICU to improve the breathing problem. He was responding to the treatment and doctors assured that he will get well soon.
Superstar Rajinikanth who was admitted to Isabel hospital twice is recovering well and is under doctor’s supervision. He has not resumed the shooting of the highly anticipated film, ‘Rana’ and would start shooting once fully recovered. His elder brother Satyanarayana Rao Gaikwad confirms that Rajini has been suffering from a lung infection and liver related problems.
"As you know Rajini was a chain smoker and had a drinking habit. The doctors have identified some problems in his lungs and liver," he said. He further confirms that strict diet to slim down has caused minor complications.
On the first day of film shoot, he was admitted when he complained of exhaustion and vomiting. In a span of one week, he was again taken to the same hospital when the actor complained breathing problem.
At least, the actor will take six months to recover fully. He is responding to medicines and is doing fine now.
The shocking news that circulated over the net about superstar Rajinikanth’s death was reportedly dismissed by his wife Latha.
She said: "I don't know where these rumours started from. These are false. He is in good health and is resting at home".
No sooner Rajini kick started the shooting of his highly anticipated film, ‘Rana’ where he is playing a triple role and romancing Deepika Padukone was admitted twice. First, he was stuck by viral fever and second time, he suffered from allergic bronchitis and viral infection.
But he is slowly recovering from his sickness and is resting at home. He will soon resume the shooting of ‘Rana’ which is put on halt due to his illness.

The 68 year old speaks about his experience about returning to the show again, "Preparing now for KBC next season starting I think in a few months... creative and promo discussions today ... very interesting," Bachchan said on micro-blogging site Twitter yesterday.
The first and the second season of KBC was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan took over the host seat in the third season but on looking at his popularity Big B back to anchor the fourth season which was aired by Sony Entertainment television.
Well, it would really be a treat to see Big B hosting KBC again.
