Pre Mood: Salman Khan Bodyguard Hindi movie is a romantic action film and a remake of the 2010 Malayalam movie Bodyguard. Its tamil remake was Kavalan starred by Vijay. Since both malayalam and tamil versions of Bodyguard Movie were big hits, in hindi too lot of expectations are there from Salman Khan in this movie.
Storyline: The story revolves around Lovely Singh (Salman Khan), a bodyguard by profession and at heart, who is summoned by Sartaj Rana (Raj Babbar), a business tycoon, to protect his daughter Divya (Kareena). Lovely, who has strange penchant to project himself as brave and risk taking, admires people who live on the peril-ground. However, his strange love for his uniform and other such antics end up making Divya a matter of ridicule in her college. Therefore, she decides to distract Lovely by calling him using a ‘private number’ and acting as his mysterious love interest, following which Lovely’s life is toppled upside-down, and he truly falls in love with this unknown caller. The story takes a twist when he ventures out to find his mystery girl, shielding Divya simultaneously.
Performances: Salman Khan made sure that his brand comedy and entertainment is intact. He was highly energetic in his character. Kareena is gorgeous in this movie and oozes natural oomph though she wore traditional dresses.. Hazel Keech does a good job. Rajat Rawail is extremely good and provides lot of entertainment. Kathrina sizzled in a cameo. Aditya Pancholi, Raj Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Asrani and Vidya Sinha were apt in their repsective roles.
Technical Aspects: Music director Pritam Chakraborty and HImesh Rashamiya came up with populist tunes in the movie. The songs are good though they are loud at times. Background by Sandeep Shirodkar, is good. Screenplay is nice in the first half, but is messed up in the second half. Director Siddique shows promise and succeeds in getting the entertainment scenes right, but fails in narrating the movie in a crisp manner in the second half. Sejal Shah cinematography is neat. Fights by Vijayan misses naturality but were good enough to attract the mass audience. Production values were good. Dialogues are good in parts. Sanjay Sankla’s editing is commendable.
Survi Verdict: First half of the movie is little boring, Interval bang is good. Second half is better. The climax lights to one in Kuch kuch Hota Hai. The plus points are Lead cast, Music and cinematography. On the flipside, screenplay is not engaging enough and narration lacks substance. Despite of the above mentioned flaws, BODYGUARD still offers something for family crowds. Worth a Watch for SALMAN KHAN fans..
From the 3: Till now Bodyguard (Malayalam) original is far better than its remakes..
