Yesterday, ShockYa posted the trailer for the Hasbro game movie, “Battleship,” and now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, movie fans’ reactions range from confused, to excited, to pleasantly surprised, to unaffected. Here are some of the Twitter reactions the article mentions:
N’Gai Croal: “Better than expected? First trailer for Battleship”
Videogum: “This is exactly what I always envisioned when I was playing the board game, exactly.”
Allison Whitmore: “Wait, there are aliens in BATTLESHIP? The giant naval power we’re using ships to battle is extraterrestrial? Did they not fly here?”
Steve Kamb: “So they’re turning the board game ‘Battleship’ into a movie. Watch this trailer, and prepare to say WTF.”
You can read more Twitter reactions in the full article. I’ve already given my opinion about the trailer, but just to reiterate what I wrote in the trailer article, the film seems ridiculous in how much padding their obviously is in this movie. Aliens? How did aliens get in “Battleship”? And does the mysterious color that summons the alien ship have to be the same blue used in almost every alien/”Transformers”/weird thing movie? And there are actual relationships in this film? But even with the craziness of this film, it looks surprisingly fun to watch, so I’m sure it’ll make beaucoup bucks at the box office. But what do you think about it? Are you pleasantly surprised or just saddened by the state of movies these days?
