The engagement of Brittany Murphy and Thomas Ledger has been announced by the future bride’s parents, Marian and Charles Murphy Jr. of New Dorp. The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Diann and Eugene Ledger of South Beach.

Miss Murphy is a graduate of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, Huguenot, and earned a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in hospitality and business management from St. John’s University, Grymes Hill. She is a flagship store manager with Guess by Marciano in Manhattan.

Mr. Ledger is a graduate of Staten Island Technical High School and earned a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, in computer engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark. He is a banking and finance business analyst and assistant vice president with Brown Brothers Harriman in Manhattan.

The couple is planning an October 2012 wedding.
