Fardeen Khan is the son of Sundari and famed Indian actor/director Feroz Khan, who was originally from Bangalore. While he was brought up in India, Fardeen studied abroad. Fardeen's father was of Pathan ethnicity. Fardeen Khan is the cousin of famous actor, Zayed Khan and are very close prior to his father's death.He was schooled at Jamnabai Narsee in Juhu. He was enrolled in business management (B.A) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the United States, which he never completed.He also trained at Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting Institute.

His cousins are actor Zayed Khan and designer Sussanne Roshan, who is married to Hrithik Roshan. He was involved in many scandals before he made an entrance in Bollywood. He was romantically linked with Model Roheen Khan but they broke up. Fardeen Khan was also involved in an affair with Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Pooja Bhatt when Fardeen was studying at the University of Massachusetts but after dating they broke up.
